Moms Talk: How Can You Help Your Children Succeed?

Discuss the roles a parent should play in helping students do well in school.

Summer fun is over and it's time to get back to school, back to homework and back to a daily routine for most families. And with all the distractions of peer pressure and extracurricular activities, it's easy for a student to fall off track.

As a parent, how are you helping your children succeed? What role should a parent play in helping a student reach their goals? Tell us in the comments.

First-off, I think parents should help children understand why they should have goals and help them understand how it's a combination of hard work and taking advantage of opportunities that will let them reach them. And that not everything works out. If they understand that the world isn't fair and doesn't just give to those that feel they deserve it, then they will be much more prepared for a life in the reality and society that we live in. Sheltering them from these ideas will only set them back in the long run.
