Photos: Clawson Keeps School Spirit Alive at Homecoming

Students, parents, faculty and alumni celebrate at the Clawson High School homecoming game.

The varsity football team's 13-0 loss to South Lake on Friday night didn't stop the spirit of homecoming for .

Students were decked out in blue and gold as the festivities took place on and off the field.

One highlight of the evening was the crowning of the 2011 homecoming king Jimmy Torres and queen Maria Ochoa at halftime.

"It feels so good," Ochoa said after being crowned. "This is my favorite week of the school year, hands down."

In addition to the homecoming court introduction, the school band and cheerleaders entertained the crowd with halftime performances.

There were also plenty of Clawson alumni at the game supporting their former school. The class of 1991, which has its on Saturday, were selling T-shirts during the game.

Bill Sherwood traveled all the way from Denver for the game and reunion. Sherwood hasn't been to Clawson for an extended stay in 19 years, he said. "It's weird," Sherwood said. "I haven't seen most of (my classmates) since graduation. It's the miracle of Facebook."

The game was preceded by a parade that traveled from the high school to .

The school's annual homecoming dance is 7-10 p.m. Saturday in the gym.
