Help Needed: Clawson Seeks Volunteers for Local Groups

Organizations with several different missions need more participation from the community.

The city of Clawson is seeking volunteers for the following city boards and civic organizations:

Cable Board

Meets first Wednesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at . Members provide vision and recommendations for social media, web site and cable channels.

Clawson Community Coalition

Meets third Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. Its goal is to provide education and prevent drug and alcohol abuse and promote a healthy life and community. Call 248-655-4200 ext. 4303 for more information.

Compensation Committee

Meets once every two years with a sole function of determining the council's salary.

Friends of the Library

Meets on the first Monday of each month September-June at 6:15 p.m. at . The group's goal is to support the adult and children programs through used book sales, a Teddy Bear picnic, reading programs, services, purchasing books and tapes, bringing authors and speakers to Clawson and more.

Optimist Club

Meets the third Wednesday of each month September-June at 7 a.m. at . The club's goal is to bring out the best in kids, provide hope, vision and a positive attitude. For more information email roccor712@yahoo.com.

Parks & Recreation Board

Meets second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at Hunter Community Center to provide vision, direction and hands-on help in the area of parks and recreation.

Traffic & Safety Board

Meets first Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. The group is involved in all issues related to traffic and safety in Clawson.   

Youth Assistance

Meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. at . The group's mission is to strengthen families through recreation, education, counseling and more. For more information call 248-259-6208.

Fourth of July Committee

Meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall with the next meeting in September.
